{"id":320155,"date":"2025-12-01T07:55:05","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T07:55:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/320155\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T07:55:05","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T07:55:05","slug":"womens-nba-and-players-union-extend-cba-deadline-to-january-9-as-talks-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/320155\/","title":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s NBA and players\u2019 union extend CBA deadline to January 9 as talks continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The Women\u2019s National Basketball Association and players union agreed to an extension of the current collective bargaining agreement to January 9 just before their current deadline ran out on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Just like the previous extension, both sides have the option to terminate the extension with 48 hours\u2019 advance notice.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The two sides had announced a 30-day extension to the original October 31 deadline. That extension was set to expire Sunday night just before midnight. They met over the holiday weekend hoping to come to an agreement.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The union proposed the six-week extension after the league had proposed a shorter one.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cWe expect substantive movement from the league within this window,\u201d the union said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A\u2019ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces lifts the 2025 WNBA championship trophy.
