{"id":320206,"date":"2025-12-01T08:40:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T08:40:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/320206\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T08:40:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T08:40:15","slug":"australia-u18-squad-locked-in-for-global-youth-sevens-in-auckland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/320206\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia U18 squad locked in for Global Youth Sevens in Auckland"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The next generation of Australia\u2019s HSBC SVNS Series stars have been selected for Global Youth Sevens in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/auckland\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Auckland<\/a> from December 19-21, with Rugby <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/australia\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Australia<\/a> unveiling its Under 18\u2019s Sevens Boys squad to compete at the event.<\/p>\n<p>Global Youth Sevens brings together some of the world\u2019s best youth sevens talents, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/new-zealand\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Zealand<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/usa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">USA<\/a> among the nations represented. Australia U18s took out the men\u2019s title 12 months ago, while the women\u2019s team was defeated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/japan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Japan<\/a> in an entertaining decider.<\/p>\n<p>Wallace Charlie was named Global Youth Sevens MVP at last year\u2019s event, and the rising star has since debuted on the SVNS Series. Charlie represented Australia at the World Championship in Los Angeles, before a particularly impressive performance at last weekend\u2019s event in Dubai.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Dowling, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/aden-ekanayake\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aden Ekanayake<\/a>, James McGregor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/beau-morrison\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Beau Morrison<\/a>, Dietrich Raoche, Hadley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/tonga\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tonga<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/cooper-watters\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cooper Watters<\/a> are current Australia Sevens squad members who graduated from the Under-18s program.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/tane-edmed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tane Edmed<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/tate-mcdermott\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tate McDermott<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/dylan-pietsch\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dylan Pietsch<\/a> also represented the youth side before playing for the Wallabies. McDermott did play on the World Series before becoming a regular starter and leader at the Queensland Reds.<\/p>\n<p>The 2025 squad includes four NSW <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/waratahs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Waratahs<\/a> players, a few talents from the ACT Brumbies, two Queensland <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/reds\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reds<\/a> products, one player form the Western Force, and another player from Rugby Vicotria.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Hartman, Jarvis Orr and Bailey Roberts-Lintmeijer helped Australia win the title last year, and they\u2019re back as the team chases another crown.
