Former Premier League midfielder Don Hutchinson says Chelsea’s Reece James was the “standout player by a mile” in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal<\/a> at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

“Reece James was man of the match by a mile,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast.<\/p>\n

“I watch Reece James and he is like an NFL quarterback.<\/p>\n

“He can play a variety of positions. There were some passes he made where he was drilling balls out to the left-hand side and then immediately winning 50-50s.<\/p>\n

“If he stays fit, he can be their quarterback. His range of passing is superb – he can play it short, he’s cute around the corners, he can play those 40 or 50-yard diagonals with the correct weight of pass.<\/p>\n

“He was the standout player by a mile and he was right in his assessment after the match.<\/p>\n

“What Chelsea needed was to convince people they could pass another test after beating Liverpool<\/a>. They passed another test against Arsenal. That will be huge for them in the dressing room.<\/p>\n

“It will feel like a win because it was 10 versus 11. They took points away from arch rivals in a London derby. They will feel great going into their next few games.<\/p>\n

“Away trips to Leeds<\/a> and Bournemouth<\/a> are opportunities to keep convincing.”<\/p>\n
