ESPN has had to apologise after Australians missed out on watching William “Davo” Hickey’s buzzer beater winner for the Boomers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With seconds left on the clock between Australian and New Zealand tonight, the Tall Blacks were leading 77-76.<\/p>\n

Hickey had the ball from the three-point zone and sunk the winner before being mobbed by teammates.<\/p>\n

However, that footage only came through ESPN’s social media account after the coverage had cut out.<\/p>\n

The Australian broadcast was lost with two minutes and 34 seconds on the clock. New Zealand was leading 75-70 at the time. <\/p>\n

An official review into a foul was ongoing before the screen went black and just the ESPN logo was shown.<\/p>\n

Producers could be heard on the coverage before the footage cut to a completely different stadium. An ad break then followed.<\/p>\n

ESPN posted Hickey’s winner on social media and accompanied it with an apology.<\/p>\n

“We are aware that due to a technical issue at the end of the game was not seen for some viewers. We are investigating the cause and deeply apologise for the issue,” the post read.<\/p>\n

The Boomers won the match 79-77 in what was game two of the Group A World Cup qualifier against New Zealand.<\/p>\n
