Queensland rugby league<\/a> great and Seven expert Trevor Gillmeister has avoided conviction after pleading guilty to assaulting a police officer last month.<\/p>\n

Gillmeister faced court on Monday and pleaded guilty to all three charges against him from an alleged incident at the Stock Exchange Hotel in Brisbane on November 14.<\/p>\n

Police say they were stopped by a member of the public on Friday night and made aware of a physical disturbance inside the venue.<\/p>\n

They say the 61-year-old had been evicted after assaulting a staff member.<\/p>\n

Officers allege a physical struggle followed as they tried to arrest him.<\/p>\n

Gillmeister said the reason he didn\u2019t get on the ground when the officers asked was because of the injuries suffered throughout his sporting career.<\/p>\n

He received a three-month good behaviour bond with no conviction recorded.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know I\u2019m a good person, deep down, so I know I\u2019ve done wrong,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was alcohol involved, there\u2019s no doubt about that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got plenty of lessons at home now, I can tell you, with my wife and two daughters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve kicked me up the backside and rightfully so.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish everyone the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gillmeister played 257 first grade games across his career, including 72 for the Broncos in the early 1990s. He was a key member of the team that won the premiership in 1992 and 1993.<\/p>\n

The prop played 22 games for Queensland in Origin and also represented Australia in three Tests.<\/p>\n

Post playing career, he worked as an assistant coach for the Queensland Origin team.<\/p>\n
