{"id":321699,"date":"2025-12-02T01:25:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T01:25:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/321699\/"},"modified":"2025-12-02T01:25:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T01:25:10","slug":"teen-jailed-for-17-years-after-stabbing-doctor-to-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/321699\/","title":{"rendered":"Teen jailed for 17 years after stabbing doctor to death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A teen who murdered a beloved Melbourne GP has been jailed for 17 years for brutally stabbing an unarmed man.<\/p>\n<p>The boy, now 18, looked straight ahead as Victorian Supreme Court Justice Amanda Fox handed down his sentence this morning.<\/p>\n<p>A jury found he murdered doctor Ashley Gordon near his Doncaster home in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/melbourne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"Melbourne&#039;s\">Melbourne&#8217;s<\/a> north-east early on January 13, 2024.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/ce6a0765-00e5-4bd9-9033-0632997e16d3.jpeg\"   alt=\"\"\/>Ash Gordon was stabbed to death in January last year. (Nine)<\/p>\n<p>The teen and a friend broke into the house about 4am, stealing shoes, headphones, laptops, a wallet and silver necklaces.<\/p>\n<p>They went back to a nearby house party before returning to Gordon&#8217;s house, planning to steal the Mercedes-Benz that was parked in the garage.<\/p>\n<p>Gordon caught them as they tried to break in a second time, chasing the teens onto the street and then following them in his car.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/2f6c1eb8-885e-4309-8897-cca2b11986a4.png\"   alt=\"Death of Melbourne GP Ash Gordon\"\/>Gordon was stabbed to death near his Doncaster home. (9News)<\/p>\n<p>He got out of the vehicle once they reached a nearby street and the doctor tried to restrain the then-16-year-old, telling him the police were on their way.<\/p>\n<p>But the boy pulled out a knife and stabbed Gordon six times before leaving him to die on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Fox described the murder as a brutal attack against an unarmed man as she sentenced the teen to 17 years&#8217; jail.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/c61ff05a-a641-496c-9f0a-2a7591baf2b6.jpeg\"   alt=\"Ash Gordon was allegedly killed by two teens in a botched home invasion in January last year.\"\/>Gordon was stabbed six times.
