Northern Beaches Council has begun construction on a new pedestrian and cycling bridge that will span Manly Lagoon between Aitken Avenue and Hinkler Park at Queenscliff.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The new 4-metre-wide bridge will offer an alternative to the existing narrow path adjacent to Pittwater Road and connect with local cycling paths and routes further afield to Brookvale and Manly.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Wide and well-lit, it will provide a safe, dedicated path for active travellers to access local amenities including shops, schools, playgrounds and other recreational facilities.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The project is funded by a $3.95 million grant from Transport for NSW.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Construction is expected to be complete by April 2026.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Northern Beaches Council Mayor, Sue Heins, said: “This new bridge is a significant step forward in our efforts to create a safer and more connected community.<\/p>\n
