On the latter, it currently ranks as the eighth-highest-rated film of the year and the second-best wide release behind only \u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d (95) and ahead of \u201cBlack Bag\u201d (85).  <\/p>\n<p>That suggests it\u2019s going to sit high on end-of-year lists along with such lauded 2025 arthouse films as \u201cThe Secret Agent,\u201d \u201cIt Was Just an Accident,\u201d \u201cSentimental Value,\u201d \u201cCactus Pears,\u201d and \u201cNo Other Choice\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a sampling of reviews:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChalamet makes one of the most colossal movie performances of the 21st century seem as natural as a lay-up.\u201d \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/criticism\/movies\/marty-supreme-movie-review-timothee-chalamet-a24-1235163722\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Ehrlich, Indiewire<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is rather that the film is itself ping pong; the rhythm and spirit of table tennis is in every scene and the mesmeric effect of the spectacular, clattering, dizzying back-and-forth.\u201d \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2025\/dec\/01\/marty-supreme-review-timothee-chalamet-ping-pong-table-tennis\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor its entire two and a half hours \u2014 which whips past in what feels like mere minutes \u2014 Safdie\u2019s film had me vibrating like a tuning fork.
