{"id":323269,"date":"2025-12-02T18:24:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T18:24:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/323269\/"},"modified":"2025-12-02T18:24:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T18:24:08","slug":"ex-motogp-rider-hospitalised-in-valentino-rossi-event-crash-vows-comeback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/323269\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-MotoGP rider hospitalised in Valentino Rossi event crash vows comeback"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former MotoGP racer Mattia Pasini has vowed to return to Valentino Rossi\u2019s 100Km of Champions, after a scary crash left him unconscious at the 2025 event.<\/p>\n<p>MotoGP legend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1999\/valentino-rossi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Valentino Rossi<\/a> staged the 11th running of his 100Km of Champions dirt track contest last weekend at his VR46 Ranch in Tavullia.<\/p>\n<p>The event gathers together stars from across the motorcycle racing spectrum.<\/p>\n<p>Mattia Pasini, veteran of the Moto2 class and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP<\/a> rider during the 2012 season, is a regular at Rossi\u2019s ranch.<\/p>\n<p>But his 100Km of Champions event ended with a scary crash on Friday 28 November, after a collision with 2014 Moto2 champion Tito Rabat.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Pasini was knocked unconscious in the incident and was transferred to a local hospital by air ambulance as a precaution. He suffered no serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Italy\u2019s GPOne, Pasini explained how the crash unfolded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat can I say; I really bit the dust,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut that can happen in flat track racing. The crash was intense, and I was out of commission for about two minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut luckily, the lights came back on. After two days in hospital, I\u2019m feeling much better.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was sprinting on Tito\u2019s rear wheel. His bike stood up as he accelerated out of the oval, and his rear wheel swept my front wheel out from under me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t blame Tito. It was just bad luck. I hit the ground really hard, on the left side of my body. I was gone immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo doctors were immediately on the scene. Dr Berardi and Dr Lucidi &#8211; they are the names of my guardian angels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a precaution, they arranged for rapid transport to the hospital. It was my first helicopter flight. There, they gave me a thorough examination and checked for any serious injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pasini said Rossi was \u201cvery relieved\u201d when he regained consciousness.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Despite the scary incident, Pasini says he will &#8220;definitely be back&#8221; for the 12th edition of the 100Km of Champions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the end, it\u2019s just bruising; the blood vessels and a major artery above my buttocks are also affected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut overall, nothing serious, and they released me after two days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I came to after the crash, I first saw the two doctors, and then Vale.
