{"id":323608,"date":"2025-12-02T21:59:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T21:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/323608\/"},"modified":"2025-12-02T21:59:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T21:59:07","slug":"shane-mosley-faced-canelo-pacquiao-and-de-la-hoya-but-says-another-world-champion-hit-him-hardest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/323608\/","title":{"rendered":"Shane Mosley faced Canelo, Pacquiao and De La Hoya but says another world champion hit him hardest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shane Mosley, who fought the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/canelo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canelo Alvarez<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/manny-pacquiao\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manny Pacquiao<\/a>, Floyd Mayweather and <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/oscar-de-la-hoya\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oscar De La Hoya<\/a>, has named one man as the hardest-punching opponent he ever faced.<\/p>\n<p>Like the vast majority of world-class fighters, Mosley \u2013 who, of course, was no feather-fisted operator himself \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/shane-mosley-names-the-best-he-faced\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">came up against several elite-level knockout artists throughout his 60-fight career.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Back in 2011, \u2018Sugar\u2019 collided with then-WBO world welterweight champion Pacquiao who, especially at that time, was considered one of the sport\u2019s most ferocious punchers.<\/p>\n<p>Their encounter ultimately saw Mosley suffer a unanimous decision defeat, though the American nonetheless showcased his remarkable durability and survival instinct.<\/p>\n<p>Before that, in 2007, Mosley found himself on the wrong end of another unanimous decision, this time against <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/miguel-cotto-2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miguel Cotto<\/a>, who, again, was regarded as a particularly heavy-handed customer at 147lbs.<\/p>\n<p>But despite losing to a selection of proven punchers at the top level, Mosley was also successful at defusing the explosive attacks of several other opponents.<\/p>\n<p>Against both De La Hoya and Fernando Vargas, for instance, the former three-division world champion was able to emerge victorious on two separate occasions.<\/p>\n<p>A similar story also unfolded when Mosley faced Antonio Margarito, another potent puncher, and ultimately dismantled his opponent with a ninth-round stoppage win in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Hall of Famer, though, it was Vernon Forrest, a fighter that twice defeated him in 2002, who ultimately delivered the most force behind his shots.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/ringmagazine.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ring Magazine<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/a.espncdn.com\/boxing\/a\/2002\/0612\/1393867.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Mosley reveals that Forrest\u2019s natural power was what caused him the most problems during their two encounters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure why; maybe it was just natural.
