An elderly Aussie homeowner was stunned to find a metal arrow sticking out of his backyard patio. Miguel Andrade, 78, of Epping in Sydney’s west, <\/a>was heading out to take in his clothes from the line when he noticed something “unusual” on the ground.<\/p>\n

“I went out to the clothes line, and I thought, ‘What is that’? It was a metal thing embedded in the ground. An arrow,” he told Yahoo News of his find in October.<\/p>\n

The 70-centimetre arrow was stuck in the ground close to the clothes line. Miguel couldn’t believe what he was looking at and was “horrified” at the thought of the arrow hurtling into his yard while he or his family had been around.<\/p>\n

“All thoughts went through my mind. I’m horrified… It could have hurt or killed someone… What if anyone from my family were here collecting clothes from the line?<\/p>\n

“That arrow could have travelled 200 metres, depending on the bow; that’s how fast and far they go.”<\/p>\n

Miguel went to the police, and they checked the arrow for fingerprints; however, the results reportedly came back inconclusive, and the family now have no idea who or where it came from, or if it will happen again.<\/p>\n

Yahoo News has reached out to NSW Police for comment.<\/p>\n

Arrow-firing incidents reported in Melbourne<\/p>\n

Over the last few months, several arrow-firing incidents have caused alarm across Australia.<\/p>\n

A man was charged on Monday after he allegedly fired a crossbow at police officers in Eltham in Melbourne’s northeast. Police cordoned off the property after being unable to make contact with the man inside around 1.40 pm, before he allegedly fired the crossbow at police officers.<\/p>\n

Victoria Police also reported last week that a 51-year-old man has sporadically fired arrows into the grounds of <\/a>Glenroy Specialist School in Melbourne’s northwest over the past three months.<\/p>\n

The incident in Epping has made Miguel nervous to enter his backyard, explaining that there is no way to know whether it will happen again.<\/p>\n

“We can’t discount it happening again. We don’t know,” he said.<\/p>\n
