<\/p>\n DEKALB, Ill. – The Lindenwood Men’s Basketball team defeated Northern Illinois on Tuesday night by a final score of 99-64. Six different Lions scored 10 or more points in the contest as Lindenwood controlled the game early on and never looked back. Jadis Jones<\/a> and Robert Lewis<\/a> each recorded a double-double against\u00a0the Huskies, while Sophomore Guard Clayton Jackson<\/a> set a career-high with 21 points on 6-9 shooting.\u00a0<\/p>\n In the first half, Anias Futrell<\/a> got the offense going early as he knocked down a three pointer from the left corner to give the Lions a 5-4 lead. Following the three from Futrell, Lindenwood went on an extended 14-2 run to take a 19-6 lead with 14:58 remaining in the opening 20 minutes of play. Jadis Jones<\/a> had four points during the run, while Dontrez Williams<\/a> added a three pointer of his own to highlight the run by the Lions. Clayton Jackson<\/a> ended the run by scoring five straight points which included a three pointer from the top of the key.<\/p>\n Later in the half, Lindenwood’s defense held Northern Illinois to zero points for five minutes and extended their lead to 23 at 37-14. During the Huskie drought, Williams put the Lions up by 18 by a score of 32-14 after burying his second three pointer of the half. Lindenwood attacked the paint for a majority of the first half which resulted in 21 free throw attempts.The team knocked down 16 of those to give them a 20 point lead at the break by a score of 52-32. Jackson led the Lions in scoring in the first half with 13 points, including six made free throws, while Jadis Jones<\/a> had 10 points and eight rebounds at the break. Lindenwood held NIU to just 38% from the floor in the first half, and forced 10 turnovers which led to 16 points for the Lions.\u00a0<\/p>\n In the second half, Lindenwood converted on their first two three point attempts of the half off the hands Futrell and Jeremiah Talton<\/a> to take a 25 point lead with 14:20 to go in the game. Similar to the first half, Talton’s three would spark another run for the Lions to separate themselves from the Huskies. Lindenwood went on a 6-0 run following the three pointer made by Talton thanks to four points from Jackson and a layup from Robert Lewis<\/a> to push the Lions lead to 31 points at 73-42. The largest the lead got for Lindenwood was 38 points after Dontrez Williams<\/a> scored on a fast break layup. The Lions dominated for most of the 40 minutes of the game and went on to win by 35 points, which was the largest margin of victory on the road for Lindenwood Men’s Basketball in the Division I era.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Lions finished the contest shooting 50.7% from the floor and knocked down 71% of their free throw attempts (20-28). Jadis Jones<\/a> posted his third straight double-double of the season as well for Lindenwood, while Robert Lewis<\/a> recorded his first double-double since the season opener at Texas Tech on November 4.\u00a0<\/p>\n LU will now open OVC play on Saturday night at Eastern Illinois.
