SUPERCARS chief executive James Warburton has condemned personal abuse directed at drivers in the wake of its Adelaide Grand Final.<\/p>\n

The category has released a statement from Warburton on social media, which has since been shared by Walkinshaw Andretti United.<\/p>\n

The Victorian team been eager to protect young gun Ryan Wood<\/a> following a Sunday collision involving he and title contender Broc Feeney<\/a> which has led to a barrage of nasty online messages fired at the Kiwi.<\/p>\n

Warburton also pledged to up the ante on stamping out such behaviour.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love our fans and know you\u2019re the most passionate of any sport,\u201d Warburton wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love what the stars of our sport do for our supporters on and off the track. No sporting fans have better access to their heroes.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur new Finals series has just stirred emotions and opinions like never before. As with all codes this is what sport is all about.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut no matter what happens, there\u2019s never any place for personal abuse. It can\u2019t be tolerated and must be called out.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t belong in any part of society, and it definitely doesn\u2019t belong in Supercars.
