Samsung’s new foldable phones seem to have struck a chord with consumers, as they have sold in record numbers<\/a> during the pre-order period in many important markets<\/a>. However, even before the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung did quite well in the US smartphone market. Apple’s iPhone sales dropped during the same period, though.\n<\/p>\n

\nSamsung smartphone sales jumped 38% in USA in Q2 2025\n<\/p>\n

According to the latest numbers<\/a> from research firm Canalys, Samsung’s smartphone shipments in the second quarter of 2025 jumped by 38% compared to the second quarter of 2024. On the back of 8.3 million Galaxy phones, the South Korean firm’s overall market share in the USA reached 31%, which is likely the highest ever in Samsung’s history.<\/p>\n

This excellent performance could be largely due to the Galaxy S25 series, which was launched earlier this year, and the Galaxy A series.\n<\/p>\n

In comparison, Apple sold 13.3 million iPhones in Q2 2025, accounting for a market share of 49% in its home country. It might seem quite impressive, but it is an 11% drop compared to Q2 2024. The company is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series in September, so its sales could improve in Q3 and Q4 of this year.\n<\/p>\n

This is the closest gap ever between Apple’s and Samsung’s market shares in the USA. With more exciting launches coming in the near future, Samsung could improve its market share even further. The South Korean firm is expected to launch its first tri-folding phone<\/a> before the end of this year and the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra<\/a> in January 2026.\n<\/p>\n

Motorola shipped 3.1 million smartphones and captured 12% share of the market. Despite heavy marketing, Google shipped only 0.8 million Pixel phones in the USA, capturing a 3% market share, which is a 13% improvement compared to last year.
