How Oscar Piastri becomes world champion<\/p>\n
If Oscar claims victory in the final race of the season he would need Norris to finish sixth or lower to claim the drivers\u2019 title.<\/p>\n
Victory in Abu Dhabi would mean Verstappen\u2019s title hopes would collapse regardless of where he finishes.<\/p>\n
Piastri can still finish second and win the title but it would take something of a disaster from Norris. His teammate would need to finish 10th or lower while Verstappen would have to miss the podium for an Australian world title celebration.<\/p>\n
How Lando Norris becomes world champion<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s where it gets more complicated.<\/p>\n
If Norris finishes inside the top three he cannot be caught.<\/p>\n
A result of fourth to fifth means Verstappen must finish second or lower.<\/p>\n
A sixth to seventh place finish means Verstappen and Piastri must finish no higher than second.<\/p>\n
An eighth place finish and Verstappen cannot finish higher than third, Piastri second.<\/p>\n
A ninth pace finish and Verstappen cannot finish higher than fourth, Piastri second.<\/p>\n
A 10th place finish and Verstappen cannot finish higher than fourth, Piastri third.<\/p>\n
11th or lower and Verstappen cannot finish higher than fourth, Piastri third. <\/p>\n

How Max Verstappen becomes world champion: <\/p>\n
If Max finishes first on Monday he would need Norris to finish fourth or lower to be crowned world champion. Piastri\u2019s result would be irrelevant in the event of Verstappen getting the chequered flag <\/p>\n
Should Verstappen finish second then Norris would need to slump to eighth or lower while Piastri would have to finish no higher than third.If Max crosses the line in third the odds shrink further.
