Five-time major champion and career grand slam winner, Rory McIlroy, headlines the men\u2019s Australian Open in 2025 as it returns to the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. <\/p>\n

It will be the first time McIlroy has played in the event since 2014, with plenty of Australian talent to cheer on too as the action gets underway on Thursday December 4. <\/p>\n

WHO IS IN THE FIELD?<\/p>\n

Masters champion Rory McIlroy is the headline act, but there will be plenty of homegrown talent on display with Adam Scott, Min Woo Lee, Cam Davis, Lucas Herbert and Cam Smith among those featuring. <\/p>\n

Elsewhere, David Puig will be looking to back up his maiden DP World Tour title last week at the Australian PGA Championship while 2023 champion Joaquin Niemann will be one of the strongest threats to McIlroy. <\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s winner, Ryggs Johnston, won\u2019t be competing in this year\u2019s field in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

This year, the Royal Melbourne Golf Club will play host to the event.<\/p>\n

HOW MUCH DO THE WINNERS GET?<\/p>\n

A total of AU$2 million of prize money is on offer. The specific amount that the men\u2019s and women\u2019s champions will receive is to be confirmed.<\/p>\n

WHO IS THE FAVOURITE?<\/p>\n

Rory McIlroy is the overwhelming favourite at $4 with the TAB. Australian Min Woo Lee is next in the line of betting at $13 along with reigning Australian PGA Championship winner David Puig, while Marc Leishman and Joauin Niemann are $15.<\/p>\n
