Would you change your child’s birthday if you could? That’s exactly the question on one Aussie influencer’s mind.

Mum-of-three Indy Clinton has made a name for herself online with her authentic parenting content— however this week a video posted by the influencer sparked heated debate between December babies.

The social media star shared her plan to change her youngest child, Soul’s birthday with her 2 million TikTok followers.

“My third child Soul, we’ve decided to change her birthday to December 12,” the influencer revealed.

The 2-year-old was born on December 18, just six days after the proposed new date.

“She was actually (born) too close to Christmas for my liking and I just thought, going forward she’s never going to know we changed it.

“Genuinely I cannot think of a reason why this would be bad, I think it’s really smart and nobody else has thought of it.”

The clip was captioned with: “If you were born close to Christmas and your parents were never forward thinking like me, I’m sorry”.

There is no legal way to change birthdates within Australia, meaning the switch would only be for celebratory purposes — but many still had strong opinions about Clinton’s parenting choice.

One viewer wrote it would cause logistical nightmares when Soul’s older and has to fill out official forms, to which the influencer replied: “We will meet that crossroad when it comes”.

Another commenter offered their personal perspective on the topic: “My mum did that to me, and I found out when I was 38 — I’m now 72, please don’t do it. I’m still not over it!”

“This is going to give her an identity crisis when she finds out her birthday isn’t her birthday,” a third comment said.

Other December babies, however, were more understanding of Clinton’s take and the pain that comes with combined “birth-mas” celebrations.

“As someone born December 22nd, PLEASE change it! Those darn combined presents will be the death of me,”

“I don’t know why my parents never did this for me,” another praised, while a third commenter wrote the idea was “genius”.

This is not the 28-year-old’s first controversy this week, with the TikTokker forced to defend herself against claims she was high on illicit substances at the 2025 TikTok Awards.
