Phew! That was a marathon, not a sprint – but Olivia Dean
\nemerged as the biggest winner of the day. She had four songs in the Top 100,
\nincluding the number one – Man I Need.<\/p>\n

Sam Fender, her duet partner on Rein Me In, was close behind
\nwith three entries. Canadian sensation Tate McRae, bedroom pop icon
\nPinkPantheress and BBC Sound of 2025 winner Chappell Roan also had three.<\/p>\n

What have we learned? That music is in a really healthy
\nplace.<\/p>\n

Very few of those songs could be accused of hopping on
\ntrends or playing it safe; and innovation is coming from every walk of life.<\/p>\n

Artists like JADE, CMAT, Skepta and Chappell Roan are in a
\ngleeful search for boundaries they can break; while bands like Wolf Alice,
\nTurnstile and Geese are tenaciously pulling rock out of a decade-long doldrum.<\/p>\n

But as I said a couple of hours ago, it feels like we\u2019re at
\na transitional point.<\/p>\n

No one artist or genre is dominant – but equally, there
\nhasn\u2019t been an album that defines the last 12 months (although Rosal\u00eda\u2019s Lux
\nstands head and shoulders above the competition).<\/p>\n

Next year promises new music from the likes of Harry Styles,
\nMadonna, Gorillaz and Beyonc\u00e9, while Radio 1\u2019s Sound of 2026 longlist<\/a> proves
\nthere\u2019s no dearth of new talent.<\/p>\n

To quote the long-forgotten 80s rock act Timbuk3, \u201cthe
\nfuture\u2019s so bright, I gotta wear shades\u201d.<\/p>\n
