In a head-turning development, the Chicago Bulls have reportedly opted against pursuing superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in a trade. <\/p>\n

The bulldozing Milwaukee forward has been engulfed in trade rumours in recent days amid the Bucks\u2019 struggles, and on Thursday he went down with a concerning calf injury<\/a>. <\/p>\n

And while Antetokounmpo \u2014 who has reportedly been weighing up his NBA future for some time \u2014 shapes as the biggest name ahead of February\u2019s trade deadline, the Bulls aren\u2019t keen on a move, according to Fox News insider Lou Canellis. <\/p>\n

\u201cI can tell you that Giannis and his representatives reached out to the Bulls about a potential deal, and the Bulls said they weren\u2019t interested,\u201d he reported. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey were not interested in breaking up their young core or changing their course of direction that they have laid out with AK (Bulls\u2019 vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas) and Marc Eversley (general manager) right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chicago\u2019s purported unwillingness to pursue someone of Antetokounmpo\u2019s generational talents is sure to perturb a fanbase starving for a superstar since the Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler days, and particularly after the franchise has come crashing back down to earth after a hot start. <\/p>\n

The Bulls started the 2025-26 season a perfect 5-0 \u2014 inspiring hope of a top-six Eastern Conference finish after years stuck in play-in range \u2014 before a torrid stretch which has seen them lose five-straight games and fall to 11th in the East at 9-12. <\/p>\n

And if indeed Giannis\u2019 reps made contact with the Bulls regarding a potential move and they said \u2018no thanks\u2019, it\u2019s also a massive blow for Aussie guard Josh Giddey, who continues to be a shining light in his second season in Chicago. <\/p>\n

Giddey, who has played at an All-Star level at multiple points in the early stages of this season, would thrive to a further degree with Antetokounmpo, particularly in pick-and-roll situations. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey are who we thought they are,\u201d 670 The Score analyst Marshall Harris said of the Bulls in response to Canellis\u2019 report. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy question, my gripe, my fear … if your team\u2019s best player is Josh Giddey, how good is your team?\u201d Peck asked. <\/p>\n

\u201cTonight was a scary dose of that question for me. Plain and simple. And that\u2019s a knock on Josh Giddey … (but) how good is your team if Josh Giddey is your best player?\u201d<\/p>\n
