{"id":329013,"date":"2025-12-05T08:18:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T08:18:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/329013\/"},"modified":"2025-12-05T08:18:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T08:18:11","slug":"emma-stone-was-sought-for-new-batman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/329013\/","title":{"rendered":"Emma Stone Was Sought For New &#8220;Batman&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/second-trailer-yorgos-lanthimos-bugonia.jpg\" data-caption=\"Focus Features\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"464\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/second-trailer-yorgos-lanthimos-bugonia.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"second-trailer-yorgos-lanthimos-bugonia\"\/><\/a>Focus Features<\/p>\n<p>Arguably the biggest genre news of the week hit yesterday when it was revealed Oscar-winning actress Scarlett Johansson was in final talks for a major role in Matt Reeves\u2019 \u201cThe Batman: Part II\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Whose she playing isn\u2019t clear right now, beyond being speculated as a potential villainous love interest for Bruce Wayne.<\/p>\n<p>A follow-up report at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinsneider.com\/p\/batman-2-cast-scarlett-johansson-villain-role-who-passed-first-exorcist-tangled-update\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The InSneider<\/a> indicates that none other than \u201cBugonia\u201d star Emma Stone was originally offered Johansson\u2019s role and turned it down, potentially over pay.<\/p>\n<p>He indicates that after Stone rejected it, Johansson reportedly told her management team to aggressively pursue it:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know [Stone] wanted a big payday for Marvel\u2019s Fantastic Four movie, and I imagine she\u2019d want the same for The Batman Part II.  As a two-time Oscar nominee, Johansson doesn\u2019t exactly come cheap, but I\u2019ve heard whispers that she may have taken a lower salary upfront for The Batman Part II in exchange for points on the backend, ultimately betting on the success of the sequel. It\u2019s unclear whether Stone was willing to make a similar concession or if the role simply didn\u2019t speak to her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stone has won the Oscar for Best Actress twice for her work in \u201cPoor Things\u201d and \u201cLa La Land\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The new film will see Robert Pattinson reprise his role as Batman\/Bruce Wayne in the film with Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell all returning.
