{"id":32914,"date":"2025-07-30T17:05:07","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T17:05:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/32914\/"},"modified":"2025-07-30T17:05:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T17:05:07","slug":"the-decade-old-motogp-lesson-keeping-marc-marquez-focused-in-2025-title-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/32914\/","title":{"rendered":"The decade-old MotoGP lesson keeping Marc Marquez focused in 2025 title race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Runaway MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez says \u201cexperience of 2014\u201d is helping to keep his mind focused as edges closer to the 2025 title.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old has been in dominant form in the first half of the season, scoring eight grands prix wins, 11 sprint victories and eight 37-point weekends to lead the standings by 120 points after 12 rounds.<\/p>\n<p>With 10 rounds remaining, it has put <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1654\/marc-marquez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marc Marquez<\/a> well on course to wrap up the 2025 title well before the end of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>But he insists this is not his goal, citing 2014 when he wanted to win the championship \u201cas soon as possible\u201d after 11 wins in 12 rounds before suffering back-to-back crashes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of races to go, with sprint races, with main races,\u201d he said at the Czech Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have the experience of 2014, where I tried to keep winning and tried to close the championship as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then I crashed in Misano and in Aragon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, just I need to take care about all these things. It\u2019s true that we have a big advantage, but we will have many races back-to-back in a row.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, keep focused and no stress. I had enough pressure in the first part of this season to manage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow we have an advantage, this gives me less pressure but we need to manage all the situations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, I will try to take the 37 points every weekend but I think it\u2019s not possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marquez has won five grands prix in a row \u00a0&#8211; the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/ducati-lenovo-team\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ducati<\/a> rider ever to have done so &#8211; ahead of the summer break, with current form having some tipping him to repeat his 10-in-a-row triumph from 2014.<\/p>\n<p>With eight Sunday wins, he is also able to better his record of 13 victories in a single season, again from 2014.<\/p>\n<p>But Marquez says these records are \u201cnot the most important thing\u201d and believes his current run of five successive wins is worth more because they have included sprints.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecords, of course, are there, but it\u2019s not the most important thing because when somebody speaks again about records it\u2019s because some rider is close to beating the record,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe main target is to try to fight\u2026 we are fighting. Try to won.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow the second part of the season is try to win the championship, this will be the main target.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFive victories in a row, it\u2019s true that we did it in the past, but now it\u2019s &#8211; in my personal opinion &#8211; even harder because we have sprints plus main race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, I take the 37 points in the last five races.
