Global infrastructure provider Cloudflare is down, for the second time<\/a> in weeks, taking with it large swathes of the internet.<\/p>\n The issue is emerging as I write, with users complaining on social media site X<\/a> that they can\u2019t access various tools and websites. <\/p>\n I went on DownDetector to check Cloudflare\u2019s status, but was unable to access the site\u2014presumably because it uses Cloudflare. An error message is displayed, reading \u201c500 Internal Server Error.\u201d<\/p>\n It seems like Reddit users are doing the same. One post<\/a> reads: \u201cWhen the down detectors aren\u2019t even working you know you\u2019re screwed.\u201d<\/p>\n Cloudflare Confirms Issues<\/p>\n Cloudflare has confirmed issues on its status page<\/a>, saying it is \u201cinvestigating issues with Cloudflare Dashboard and related APIs.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cCustomers using the Dashboard \/ Cloudflare APIs are impacted as requests might fail and\/or errors may be displayed,\u201d the update reads.<\/p>\n Minutes later, Cloudflare said it has implemented a fix. This means things should be getting back up and running again. At 04:30 a.m. EST, some sites are accessible again.<\/p>\n The Cloudflare issues coincided with planned maintenance, but it is unclear what is causing so many websites to be affected. DownDetector<\/a> \u2014 which is now available again \u2014 shows a massive spike in reports relating to Cloudflare, with around 2,000 reports at 04:00 a.m.<\/p>\n At 04:40 a.m Cloudflare also says it is \u201cinvestigating an increased level of errors for customers running Workers scripts.<\/p>\n \u201cCloudflare is investigating reports of a large number of empty pages when using the list API on a Workers KV namespace,\u201d Cloudflare wrote in an update. It said it is \u201cworking to analyse and mitigate this problem.\u201d<\/p>\n Cloudflare sent me a statement over email which reads: \u201cA change made to how Cloudflare\u2019s Web Application Firewall parses requests impacted the availability of Cloudflare\u2019s network.”<\/p>\n \u201cThis was not an attack; the change was deployed by our team to help mitigate the industry-wide vulnerability disclosed this week in React Server Components,\u201d the spokesperson said, adding that Cloudflare will \u201cshare full details in a blog post today.\u201d<\/p>\n The Cloudflare problems come after an outage on Nov. 18 left large parts of the internet not working due to technical issues.
