The North West Cricket Club\u2019s three competitions continue to grow with an even bigger season planned for January.<\/p>\n
The club, which is based in Tarneit, there are three seasons held across the year.<\/p>\n
The spring season, the North West Cricket League, was recently completed with the summer season, which is a 30-over a side North West Premier League kicking off early next year.<\/p>\n
Committee member Vimal Bhushan Chatrati said they had 40 to 50 teams compete each season making it one of the largest community cricket tournaments in Melbourne\u2019s west.<\/p>\n
\u201cNWCL has been proudly operating for the past 13 years, with the core motto of fostering harmony, togetherness, and community spirit through cricket,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really going well. Most are working people who enjoy playing cricket. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a social competition but it\u2019s really good and very competitive.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the recently completed season, the highlight was the performance from Werribee Lions\u2019 Pawanjot Singh in his side\u2019s second last game.<\/p>\n
He scored 200 not out off just 89 balls, hitting seven sixes and 26 fours. It\u2019s the highest score of the spring season which is a 25 over tournament. <\/p>\n
\u201cPawan has played these tournaments for many years and has shown great consistency in his performance both with bat and bowl apart being an excellent fielder,\u201d Bhushan Chatrati said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was on cloud nine. He takes his cricket seriously and is always training and working hard across the seasons.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe also plays on Saturdays elsewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n
