Chet Holmgren added 21 points and is very important for the Thunder on both ends of the court. Considering the Thunder have dealt with many injuries so far, their record is even more impressive. Over the season, Gilgeous-Alexander averages 32.8 points per game, followed by Holmgren with 18.4. In terms of team stats, the Thunder are near the top in almost every category. They have by far the best defense in the league, allowing only 105.6 points per 100 possessions, and rank seventh offensively with 120.4 points per 100 possessions. Their defensive rebounding works excellently, they commit very few turnovers, and the key for the Thunder is simply to maintain this high level of play.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Dallas Mavericks have had a very turbulent season so far. First of all, it\u2019s important to mention that Nico Harrison was fired.<\/a> The man who thought it was a good idea to trade Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis will no longer serve as the Mavericks\u2019 general manager, which is good news for all the team\u2019s fans. It seems the Mavericks have even slightly improved recently, entering this game on a three-game winning streak and in somewhat better spirits. However, those three consecutive wins have only marginally improved the impression, as the Texas team now sits at an 8-15 record.<\/p>\n

In that mini winning streak, the Mavericks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, and Miami Heat. These are respectable opponents, so this could potentially mark the start of better play for Dallas. Also encouraging for fans are the steadily improving performances of Cooper Flagg, who was the team\u2019s top scorer with 22 points in the win over the Heat and continues to look more comfortable on the court with each game. Whenever he is on the floor, Anthony Davis performs well, leading the team with 21.1 points per game. However, as has often been the case in his career, injuries are a problem, and Davis has played only seven games this season. Looking at team stats, the Mavericks rank sixth in defense with 113.5 points allowed per 100 possessions. The main problem for this team, however, is offense\u2014they are the worst team in the league in offensive rating, scoring just 108.4 points per 100 possessions, which clearly leaves plenty of room for improvement.<\/p>\n
