\n\tIn the lead-up to the Dec. 18, 2026 release of Avengers: Doomsday<\/a>, and to hype up the audiences and fans, Marvel Studios will re-release Avengers: Endgame<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe beloved Avengers feature will be re-released in theaters on Sept. 25, 2026. It is unclear how long the window will be.<\/p>\n

\n\tDoomsday is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Endgame and marks the return to Marvel of actor Robert Downey Jr., who famously played Tony Stark\/Iron Man over the course of numerous Marvel films. In Doomsday, however, he is playing classic villain Doctor Doom. Releasing Endgame will be a potent reminder of the creative power of the trio, as well as the power of popular actors assembling. The casts of movies such as Thunderbolts*, Fantastic Four: First Steps, X-Men, among others, are slated to appear in the new movie.<\/p>\n

\n\tEndgame was the second part of an epic story involving the villain Thanos and the culmination of Marvel\u2019s Phase three of its movie release slate.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt is hard to underscore how big a pop culture event the movie became as it won over critics and fans alike. But the numbers help tell the story. First released on April 26, 2019, Endgame is now the second highest grossing film of all-time domestically with $858 million, behind only Star Wars: Force Awakens, which grossed $937 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt is the second highest grossing U.S. film of all-time internationally with $1.941 billion, behind only Avatar\u2019s $2.138 billion. (The Chinese movie\u00a0Ne Zha 2 is also $2 billion-plus player.) It is the second\u00a0highest grossing film of all-time globally with $2.799 million, behind only Avatar, whose tally is $2.924 million. And it also had the biggest opening weekend of all time globally, with a $1.2 billion debut.<\/p>\n

\n\tPhew.<\/p>\n

\n\tEndgame\u2019s re-release is likely to goose up the box office and is in line with the company\u2019s emphasis on theatrical, especially in a time when some companies are looking to potentially limit releases. \u00a0(The news comes hours after Netflix confirmed an agreement to buy Warner Bros.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe make movies for movie theaters because that\u2019s where movies belong,\u201d said Marvel head Kevin Feige at a CinemaCon presentation in April 2024. \u201cThat\u2019s all we\u2019ve ever done and that\u2019s all I hope we ever do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter the publication of this story, Disney also unveiled more updates to its calendar.
