New release dates have been set for major upcoming re-releases of some of the biggest movie hits of all time.<\/p>\n

First up, Lucasfilm has announced on StarWars.com<\/a> that the 50th anniversary re-release of the original 1977 cut of \u201cStar Wars\u201d has been moved up. Originally slated for April 30th 2027, the title will now arrive on February 19th 2027.<\/p>\n

They also confirm this newly restored film will be the classic 1977 \u201cStar Wars\u201d theatrical release \u2013 no special edition changes.<\/p>\n

Next, Fathom Entertainment and Warner Bros. have announced that all three extended editions of \u201cThe Lord of the Rings\u201d trilogy will be screened in cinemas next year for the franchise\u2019s 25th anniversary.<\/p>\n

The films will screen in DBOX presentation from January 16th-19th and then in standard formats from January 23rd-25th. Limited-edition LOTR-themed concession items will be available at select participating cinemas.<\/p>\n

Then, Marvel Studios has announced a September 25th 2026 release date for a re-release of \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d in cinemas. It\u2019s not clear how long it will be back in cinemas.<\/p>\n

The re-release will come three months ahead of the opening of \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d in cinemas on December 18th 2026.<\/p>\n

Finally, though no dates have been set at yet, Deadline<\/a> is reporting that according to IMAX, multiple Studio Ghibli films will get 4K restorations and release in theaters next year.
