The body of a woman has been found outside a police station on the NSW<\/a> south coast.<\/p>\n

Police said a Critical Incident Investigation is underway after officers found the body of the 48-year-old inside a car outside the Lake Illawarra police station about 4.30pm Friday.<\/p>\n

Paramedics were called to the scene, however, she was unable to be revived and declared dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

A crime scene was established, with police<\/a> saying the woman\u2019s body is believed to have been in the car for days before discovery, possibly as early as Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The investigation will be subject to an independent review by the Professional Standards Command, who are responsible for setting standards for performance, conduct and integrity within NSW Police.<\/p>\n

Police said the investigation will also have oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission who review and monitor the way misconduct allegations about the NSW Police and NSW Crime Commission are handled as well as investigating allegations of serious misconduct.<\/p>\n

A report will be prepared for the coroner.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage is urged to contact police.<\/p>\n
