{"id":331121,"date":"2025-12-06T12:07:47","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T12:07:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/331121\/"},"modified":"2025-12-06T12:07:47","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T12:07:47","slug":"russell-beats-f1-2025-title-contenders-in-final-practice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/331121\/","title":{"rendered":"Russell beats F1 2025 title contenders in final practice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>George Russell beat championship leader Lando Norris to the fastest time in final practice for the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, as Oscar Piastri finally got himself into the running near the front of the pack.<\/p>\n<p>For most of the session it looked as though one of Norris or main F1 title rival Max Verstappen would end this session fastest, but a late lap out of nowhere lifted Russell\u2019s Mercedes to the front.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/f1_2025_R24_FP3.png\" class=\"kg-image\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1125\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>He had languished outside the top 10 in the early part of the session, but after a red flag period &#8211; caused by Lewis Hamilton crashing midway through the hour &#8211; the Mercedes came out swinging.<\/p>\n<p>Russell ended up quickest on a 1m23.334s best, just 0.004s clear of Norris with Verstappen a further 0.120s back, complaining of his Red Bull: \u201cThe problem is the car still jumps.
