Chaos has erupted at a shopping centre when a man was allegedly stabbed during a busy Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to Bankstown Central on North Tce in Western Sydney<\/a> about 2.30pm following reports of an assault.<\/p>\n

They arrived to find a 55-year-old man with a stab wound to his upper body.<\/p>\n

Paramedics treated him at the scene before rushing him to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.<\/p>\n

His injury is not considered life-threatening.<\/p>\n

A short time later, a 27-year-old man was arrested nearby.<\/p>\n

A video taken inside the centre shows three men arguing moments before the alleged stabbing, as shoppers with trolleys look on.<\/p>\n

The incident has shocked shoppers and local store owners.<\/p>\n

Eddie Liu, who runs a store in the centre and witnessed the incident, told 7NEWS he couldn\u2019t believe what he was seeing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s pretty crazy that something like that would happen in a shopping centre,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old has since been charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and custody of a knife in a public place.<\/p>\n

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n
