The NHL’s 12-game slate on Saturday, December 6th, provided a ton of exciting moments, including shutouts, overtime thrills, and insane rallies!<\/p>\n
The Panthers completed one of the biggest rallies of the year on Saturday. Columbus got out to a 4-1 lead before the Panthers proceeded to score six of the game’s next eight goals.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They tied it up 4-4 in the second period, courtesy of two goals from Carter Verhaeghe<\/a> (7), second on a power play, then another power play goal from Seth Jones<\/a> (4).<\/p>\n The Blue Jackets would retaliate with a pair of goals from Cole Sillinger<\/a> (3) and Isac Lundestrom<\/a> (1) to go up 6-4. But\u00a0Brad Marchand<\/a> (16) got another rally started to make it 6-5 before Anton Lundell<\/a> (7) sent home the game-tying goal with just over five minutes left in regulation.<\/p>\n Then Florida’s Sam Bennett<\/a> (7) scored the OT game-winner with just 3.2 seconds left, sending the Florida faithful into an uproar.<\/p>\n After a scoreless first period, the Avs got on the board first thanks to Parker Kelly<\/a>‘s sixth goal of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n Conor Sheary<\/a> would score his first goal of the season to tie it up 1-1 for the Rangers until Nathan MacKinnon<\/a> (23) would give Colorado a 2-1 lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n Artemi Panarin<\/a> (10) would respond tie it up 2-2 for the Rangers with 42 seconds left in regulation, sending it into overtime.\u00a0<\/p>\n That’s where MacKinnon (24) did MacKinnon things and scored the game-winner.\u00a0<\/p>\n Teammate Martin Necas<\/a> (24) assisted on all three goals for the Avalanche as they improved to an NHL-best 20-2-6.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Rangers fell to 15-12-3.<\/p>\n Calum Ritchie<\/a> (3) scored the Islanders’ only even-strength goal of the game before teammate Casey Cizikas<\/a> (3) hit the empty-netter to complete the 2-0 shutout.<\/p>\n Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin<\/a> earned his third shutout of the season and the 25th of his career after making 31 saves.\u00a0<\/p>\n Despite being outshot 32-19, the Islanders extended their winning streak to three games and improved to 16-10-3.\u00a0<\/p>\n Tampa Bay fell to 16-10-2 as they’ve now dropped three straight.<\/p>\n Boston held a 2-1 lead heading into the third period thanks to goals from Fraser Minten<\/a> (4) and Morgan Geekie<\/a> (22), despite being outshot 20-9 at the time.\u00a0<\/p>\n Timo Meier<\/a> (11) scored his third goal in the past five games for the Devils.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Bruins would add some insurance in the third period with goals from Casey Mittelstadt<\/a> (6) and Andrew Peeke<\/a> (1) as they improved to 17-13-0.<\/p>\n New Jersey has now lost five straight as they fell to 16-12-1<\/p>\n Calgary’s Yegor Sharangovich<\/a> (4) scored just 16 seconds into the game to give his Flames the 1-0 lead. Then teammate Connor Zary<\/a> (4) scored the empty-netter with just over two minutes left in the game – with nothing else in between.\u00a0<\/p>\n Both teams went 0-for-1 on the power play, while Calgary goaltender Dustin Wolf<\/a> picked up his second shutout of the season and the fifth of his career after making 28 saves.\u00a0<\/p>\n Calgary improved to 11-15-4, while the Mammoth fell to 14-13-3.\u00a0<\/p>\n Carolina opened up the game with three goals in the first period, then two more in the second to get out to a commanding 5-0 lead that Nashville could not come back from.<\/p>\n Michael Bunting<\/a> (7), Matthew Wood<\/a> (8), and then Filip Forsberg<\/a> (10) tried to rally Nashville with three goals in the third, but it was just too big a hole to climb out of.\u00a0<\/p>\n Jackson Blake<\/a> (8) led the Canes in points with two goals and one assist as the Canes improved to 17-8-2.\u00a0<\/p>\n Nashville, after winning back-to-back games, fell to 10-4-4, being outshot 41-24.<\/p>\n After scoring his first of the game in the second period, Jake Neighbours<\/a> (8) scored his second of the game for St. Louis just 12 seconds into the third period to put them up 2-0 – that’s all that was needed.\u00a0<\/p>\n Ottawa’s Fabian Zetterlund<\/a> (6) tried to rally his team with a goal late in the third, but Blues goaltender Joel Hofer<\/a> was a brick wall as he recorded a career-high 40 saves.\u00a0<\/p>\n St. Louis improved to 10-12-7, Ottawa fell to 13-11-4.\u00a0<\/p>\n Cole Caufield<\/a> extended his point streak to 10 games after scoring his 15th goal of the season to put the Habs up 1-0 in the second.\u00a0<\/p>\n Toronto’s Scott Laughton<\/a> (3) scored a short-handed goal in the third period to tie it all up 1-1 with just nine minutes left in regulation.\u00a0<\/p>\n After a no-goal show in overtime, Caufield and teammate Alexandre Texier<\/a> scored the two needed during the shootout to earn the win as the team improved to 15-9-3.<\/p>\n Toronto’s three-game win streak came to an end as they fell to 13-12-3.\u00a0<\/p>\n Brandt Clarke<\/a> (5) had his first multi-goal win during the Kings’ shutout over the Blackhawks.\u00a0<\/p>\n Things took off in the second period for the Kings with a goal by Warren Foegele<\/a> (5). From then on, they couldn’t stop.<\/p>\n Other goals were scored by Andrei Kuzmenko<\/a> (4), Mikey Anderson<\/a> (2), and Alex Turcotte<\/a> (2).<\/p>\n Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper<\/a> recorded his second shutout of the season and the 38th of his career as they improved to 13-8-7.<\/p>\n Chicago, who beat the Kings two days ago on December 4th, fell to 12-10-6 on the season.<\/p>\n The Oilers got out to a fiery start in the first period with four straight goals from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins<\/a> (7), Leon Draisaitl<\/a> (17), Matt Savoie (6), and Evan Bouchard<\/a> (5).\u00a0<\/p>\n Curtis Lazar<\/a> (2) added some extra insurance with the game’s lone goal in the second period as the Oilers were outshooting the Jets 21-9 entering the third period.\u00a0<\/p>\n Gabriel Vilardi (13) put one up for the Jets at the start of the third period, but it was followed up by another Oilers goal thanks to David Tomasek (3).<\/p>\n His Jets teammate Cole Koepke (2) put up the second for Winnipeg, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to 14-13-1.<\/p>\n Edmonton improved to 13-11-5 as they’ve now won back-to-back games.<\/p>\n Matt Boldy<\/a> (16) put the Wild up 1-0 in the first period, only to be followed by three straight goals from Vancouver in the second.\u00a0<\/p>\n Tom Willander<\/a> and Elias Pettersson<\/a> scored their first goals of the season two minutes apart before Aatu Raty<\/a> (2) followed up with a goal of his own as they went into the third up 3-1.<\/p>\n Raty would score his second of the game and third of the season to put the game out of reach, despite a late power play goal from Mats Zuccarello (2), as the Canucks improved to 11-15-3.\u00a0<\/p>\n Minnesota has now dropped back-to-back games as they fell to 15-9-5.<\/p>\n Both teams exchanged one goal each in the first period before Detroit’s Andrew Copp<\/a> (2) gave them the 2-1 lead, which lasted a whole 1:34.\u00a0<\/p>\n Goals from Adam Larsson<\/a> (2) and Chandler Stephenson<\/a> (5) gave the Kraken a 3-2 lead.
