{"id":332498,"date":"2025-12-07T09:48:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T09:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/332498\/"},"modified":"2025-12-07T09:48:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T09:48:08","slug":"prep-boys-basketball-whittaker-shines-as-vikings-ease-away-from-moscow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/332498\/","title":{"rendered":"PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Whittaker shines as Vikings ease away from Moscow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COEUR d\u2019ALENE \u2014 Junior Davis Whittaker tossed in 21 points and the Coeur d\u2019Alene Vikings nabbed their first victory of the season, pulling away from the Moscow Bears 56-36 on Saturday at Viking Court.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDavis played extremely well for the second game in a row,\u201d Coeur d\u2019Alene coach Kent Leiss said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was also the first victory in the second stint at Coeur d\u2019Alene for Leiss, who coached the Vikings from 2004-13.<\/p>\n<p>Whittaker had 17 in his first varsity game, Wednesday at University.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Caden Symons, the Evansville commit in his first basketball action after suffering a broken collarbone in football season, added 18 points for the Vikings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Coeur d\u2019Alene led by two points at halftime, then outscored Moscow 32-14 in the second half.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first quarter was pretty good. The second quarter was an absolute disaster,\u201d Leiss said. &#8220;The second half, we just continued to play really good defense. They shot the ball really well and got their guys free. We didn\u2019t do enough to keep them off balance and got into some foul trouble.
