Boars have been spotted and filmed on Stoner Hill Road in Petersfield<\/p>\n

Wild boars that have been seen walking into traffic and fighting have led police to warn drivers to be “mindful” of a stretch of road.<\/p>\n

At least two boars have been spotted on Stoner Hill Road in Petersfield, Hampshire, causing queues of traffic.<\/p>\n

Fiona Holroyde, from nearby Froxfield, said she had seen boars on at least four occasions since Thursday, having previously not witnessed them in the area before.<\/p>\n

She said on Saturday afternoon she saw the “gruesome” sight of a “really stocky” boar wrestle a “very scrawny” one onto the road, causing traffic to stop. <\/p>\n

“They were both at the side making a mess of the mud and then the larger one went for the smaller one and knocked it over on the road,” she explained.<\/p>\n

“That went on for a couple of minutes and then some people got out of a car and tried to shoo it off.<\/p>\n

“This has been going on since Thursday and it’s a wonder there hasn’t been an accident.”<\/p>\n

At least two wild boars have been seen in the area <\/p>\n

Ms Holroyde said the first time she saw one of the boars she was “quite surprised”.<\/p>\n

She added: “Some of the cars coming towards me were flashing, so I was going relatively slowly, and as I came round a very steep left hand bend I literally came face-to-face with the larger of the two.<\/p>\n

“He just stood there, and I put my brakes on, and then he decided he’d walk to the side and went past me.”<\/p>\n

She described the creature as “absolutely beautiful, an amazing animal to look at, but not what you’re expecting when you’re in a bit of a rush to pick up your child from school”.<\/p>\n

Police have released a picture of one of the boars<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post East Hants Police said it was “aware that a wild boar has been sighted on Stoner Hill Road Petersfield”, and for drivers to “please bear it in mind”.<\/p>\n

“If you are driving around this area, please be mindful of this and drive carefully and at an appropriate speed,” it said.<\/p>\n

Ms Holroyde called on authorities to capture the animals and relocate them to a safer area.<\/p>\n

She said: “It would be awful if something happened to them, but likewise they really could cause quite an accident, and it’s not an easy road anyway.<\/p>\n

“We just all really hope there isn’t a sad ending.”<\/p>\n
