<\/a><\/p>\nNorth Melbourne forward Nick Larkey<\/a> is set to become the Kangaroos’ captain for 2026 after being voted in by the club<\/p>\n Jy Simpkin<\/a> was the captain for the Kangaroos in 2025 after co-captaining for two seasons before that. Simpkin explored a trade out of North Melbourne in the offseason, which resulted in him stepping aside as captain.<\/p>\n According to AFL Media’s\u00a0Callum Twomey, Larkey, who has been the Kangaroos’ vice-captain for the past two seasons, has now been voted into the role as sole captain.<\/p>\n The 27-year-old has now played a total of 134 games for North Melbourne, becoming the Roos’ best forward, leading their goalkicking for five straight years. His stellar play also saw him gain an All-Australian selection in 2023.<\/p>\n Embed from Getty Images<\/a><\/p>\n Harry Sheezel<\/a>, Luke Davies-Uniacke<\/a>, Tristan Xerri<\/a>, Charlie Comben<\/a> and Cameron Zurhaar<\/a> are expected to be featured for the rest of the official leadership team for the Kangaroos.<\/p>\n Larkey will be looking to lead North Melbourne to a more improved year after finishing 16th in 2025. The North Melbourne board will need to ratify any decision before an official club announcement.<\/p>\n
