Regis Healthcare has confirmed the next step in its portfolio reshaping strategy, agreeing to sell two of its Far North Queensland homes.<\/p>\n The Ayr and Home Hill residential aged care homes, which together comprise 156 operational beds, are expected to transfer to Not For Profit provider Ozcare by 1 March 2026, subject to standard completion conditions.<\/p>\n Regis expects the transaction to deliver a one-off pre-tax gain of approximately $25 million, which will be recognised in its FY26 financial results.<\/p>\n The operator had previously acquired the two homes<\/a> from the community-based Lower Burdekin Home for the Aged Society in 2019, with the net assets acquired for $4.6 million.<\/p>\n Regis Managing Director and CEO Dr Linda Mellors said the divestment reflects the provider\u2019s shift toward in-demand metropolitan markets and newer facilities.<\/p>\n Ozcare expands North QLD presence<\/p>\n Ozcare CEO Kevin Mercer said the acquisition will strengthen its established footprint in North Queensland.<\/p>\n \u201cThese homes have a strong reputation for delivering quality care and supporting their local communities, which aligns perfectly with our mission to provide compassionate, person-centred services,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The organisation operates 19 aged care services across Queensland, with a strong focus on regional centres.<\/p>\n In December 2024, the organisation purchased St Vincent\u2019s Care Services\u2019 140-bed aged care home<\/a> in Douglas, Townsville, about 1,300km north west of Brisbane.<\/p>\n The divestment comes as Regis continues to balance capital recycling with aggressive expansion. The ASX-listed provider has added 13 homes and more than 1,700 beds through acquisition in the past two years, including two Victorian homes<\/a> acquired from OC Health which settled on 1 December.<\/p>\n The group now operates 74 aged care homes with around 8,400 beds nationally, with a target of approximately 10,000 beds by FY28.<\/p>\n
