RUGBY LEAGUE will be at the heart of Kevin Sinfield\u2019s next challenge, as the fundraising hero attempts to visit all of England\u2019s Super League clubs on his way to next year\u2019s Grand Final.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Sinfield completed a seventh ultramarathon in as many days<\/a> at the AMT Headingley ground both he and late Leeds Rhinos team-mate Rob Burrow graced in throughout their storied playing careers.<\/p>\n

After running across the UK and Ireland in aid of motor neurone disease charities this year, Sinfield plans to centre his seventh and final \u20187 in 7 Challenge\u2019 \u2013 the first was in 2020, a year on from Burrow\u2019s MND diagnosis \u2013 in the rugby league heartlands.<\/p>\n

That includes an Old Trafford finish on the night of Super League\u2019s finale (Saturday, October 3), recreating the memorable conclusion of his 2022 challenge during the World Cup final at the same ground.<\/p>\n

Sinfield\u2019s journey will begin in Hull and he intends to visit as many other rugby league clubs as possible during the week, all to add to the more than \u00a311 million he and his team have raised in the past six years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe final 7 in 7 Challenge was always going to be a special one for us,\u201d explained the 45-year-old, who is currently the skills and kicking coach for England\u2019s national rugby union team.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe number seven is so important to us because it was the number that Rob wore on his shirt during his incredible rugby league career.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe lit up Old Trafford in that shirt on so many occasions and it is fitting in this final challenge that we should bring the rugby league community together to celebrate Rob and also show our support for the MND community.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a 7 in 7 team, we have talked about making sure that every member of that community knows they are loved and cared for, especially at the darkest of times.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will start a little bit earlier in 2026 in September rather than our usual December slot so we can finish at Old Trafford just as Rob did during his playing career (his final game was the 2017 Grand Final, winning an eighth league title).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to visit as many rugby league communities along the way as we can. It feels the right way to finish these challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe started out going for a run for a mate with a mate and we can\u2019t wait to bring everyone together next year to finish off on the best possible note.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will continue to support the MND community for life but it will be in different ways.<\/p>\n
