The 23-year-old quarterback cited Red Sox icon David Ortiz and current stars such as the Celtics\u2019 Jayson Tatum and Bruins\u2019 David Pastrnak when explaining what makes it such a special sports area.<\/p>\n\u201cI think just the way this city and the New England area kind of embraces sports, sports players and professional sports players is one of the coolest things I\u2019ve been a part of,\u201d Maye said. \u201cWatching them embrace me and embrace my teammates and some of the other athletes, and how beloved some of the famous guys [are] \u2014 Big Papi and some of the greats, Tatum right now and Pasta with the Bruins \u2014 has been really cool for me. And it\u2019s one of, I think, the greatest sports cities in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maye noted that Schwarber briefly experienced Boston when he concluded the 2021 season with the Red Sox. Alonso, on the other hand, has spent his entire career in another decorated sports city playing for the New York Mets.<\/p>\n

As he concludes his second season with the Pats, Maye applauded the fans\u2019 passion for the major men\u2019s sports teams.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cI know in New England, in this area, it\u2019s 24\/7 you\u2019re caring about the teams,\u201d Maye said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s us, the Bruins, the Pats, the Celtics and the Red Sox. It\u2019s us four, and they care a great deal about us. And I think it\u2019s the City of Champions. I mean, that\u2019s what they say, and I think that\u2019s what we try to prove and give them [something] to cheer about.
