Kmart has recalled popular Bluey, Paw Patrol and Frozen 2-themed toy sets over concerns they may be laced with asbestos.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The three “sensory activity sets” from HL Toys International include sealed tubs of coloured sand which Kmart warned could contain the toxic mineral.<\/p>\n
“The product is being recalled because the sand may contain asbestos, which is a prohibited substance in Australia,” Kmart said in a statement.<\/p>\n
“The sand in the products may cause a risk to health as asbestos has been detected in some samples after laboratory testing.”<\/p>\n

Kmart clarified respirable asbestos \u2014 extremely fine, airborne asbestos fibres that can be inhaled deep into the lungs \u2014 had not been detected in any of the tested samples.<\/p>\n
“The release of respirable asbestos fibres is unlikely to occur in its current state, unless the sand is processed by mechanical means such as crushing or pulverising,” the statement said.<\/p>\n
“The risk that any asbestos found is likely to be airborne or fine enough for inhalation is low.”<\/p>\n

The retailer urged customers to stop using the product immediately.<\/p>\n
“Do NOT open the sand tub,” Kmart said.<\/p>\n
“If the tub has been removed from the box, place it in a sealed plastic bag.”<\/p>\n
