{"id":336814,"date":"2025-12-09T09:10:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T09:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/336814\/"},"modified":"2025-12-09T09:10:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T09:10:08","slug":"funeral-details-announced-for-popular-city-of-armagh-rugby-player-armagh-i","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/336814\/","title":{"rendered":"Funeral details announced for popular City of Armagh rugby player \u2013 Armagh I"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1000\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Adam-Hegarty.jpg\" class=\"attachment- size- wp-post-image\" alt=\"Adam Hegarty\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>A funeral service will be held on Wednesday (December 10) for City of <a href=\"https:\/\/armaghi.com\/category\/news\/armagh-news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Armagh<\/a> senior rugby player, Adam Hegarty.<\/p>\n<p>Adam passed away suddenly on Saturday night after playing for the club\u2019s Second XV earlier that day.<\/p>\n<p>The popular young man, from Saval in Newry, had scored a try for Armagh second XV on Saturday in what has now, heartbreakingly, become his final appearance for the club.<\/p>\n<p>City of Armagh RFC paid a moving tribute to the popular player, describing him as a \u201ctrue gentleman\u201d who was respected both on and off the field.<\/p>\n<p>Newry Rugby Club also paid tribute to its former player.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdam played in our youth teams for many years and was a very talented rugby player,\u201d said a club spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe club would like to pass on our deepest condolences to Adam\u2019s family, Noel, Caroline, Jack, and Ellen. We also keep in our thoughts and prayers Adam\u2019s friends and teammates in Newry and Armagh.
