If you\u2019re not familiar with Serica by now, here\u2019s a quick intro. This young Parisian<\/a> independent, founded in 2019 by designer J\u00e9r\u00f4me Burgert and watch journalist\u2011turned\u2011entrepreneur Gabriel Vachette, aims to build robust mechanical instruments that salute the \u201cgolden age\u201d of watchmaking without simply reissuing the past. The name comes from Serica, an ancient term for the far\u2011eastern \u201cland of silk\u201d at the end of the Silk Road, which ties the brand to ideas of travel and exploration. Their debut of the W.W.W field watch \u2013 riffing on the British Army\u2019s Wrist Watch Waterproof spec \u2013 set the tone for what followed: compact, mid\u2011century\u2011coloured everyday watches<\/a> that mostly dispense with prominent dial logos and instead lean on twisted lugs, broad arrow hands and a revived Bonklip bracelet for character: all French\u2011designed, Swiss\u2011made and now fully COSC\u2011certified.<\/a><\/p>\n

That base now underpins the new 6190 \u2018TXD\u2019, which takes the familiar field\u2011watch architecture and dresses it up for casino night. The brand has used a tuxedo dial before, but here the concept is pushed further, with a polished enamel execution that plays with the classic alternating light and dark rings. The watch\u2019s \u201cFaites vos jeux\u201d campaign leans into black\u2011tie associations, yet in person, the design remains fairly restrained.<\/p>\n

The underlying case keeps the same practical dimensions as the rest of the 6190 family. Its stainless steel body measures 37.7 mm across, 10.4 mm in thickness, including the crystal and 46.5 mm lug\u2011to\u2011lug. Long twisted lugs with alternating finishes give the watch much of its personality, the satin\u2011brushed tops broken by narrow polished chamfers that catch the light and evoke classic lyre\u2011lug sports watches without feeling like a direct quotation.<\/p>\n

Up top, a 1.8 mm double\u2011domed sapphire crystal with internal anti\u2011reflective coating introduces a hint of vintage distortion at the dial\u2019s edge, while still providing the scratch resistance modern buyers expect. Water\u2011resistance is rated to 200 metres.<\/a><\/p>\n

Circular and baton indices are hand\u2011applied, each framed and filled with Super\u2011LumiNova C3, so the graphic tuxedo layout remains readable in poor light as well as in bright environments. The enamel surface should provide more richness than a standard painted dial.<\/p>\n

The handset<\/a> has been reworked to suit this more polished environment, too. The hour and minute hands are now brushed rather than fully polished. The signature large arrow hour hand remains, immediately signalling \u201cSerica\u201d even at a glance.<\/p>\n

Inside, the 6190 \u2018TXD\u2019 uses the self\u2011winding Swiss Soprod M100. It runs at 4 Hz, offers a 42\u2011hour power reserve and, crucially, is COSC\u2011certified, aligning it with the rest of Serica\u2019s current catalogue. The movement benefits from a decorated plate with c\u00f4tes de Gen\u00e8ve.<\/p>\n

The watch is paired with Serica\u2019s stainless\u2011steel Bonklip bracelet with a signed clasp, offered in three sizes \u2013 small, regular and extra\u2011long \u2013 which makes it easier to achieve a precise fit straight away. The Bonklip, a lighter and more articulated alternative to the typical three\u2011link sports bracelet, has become one of the brand\u2019s signatures: its narrow, closely spaced links drape neatly around the wrist and visually slim the watch head.<\/p>\n
