Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> goaltender Joseph Woll<\/a> returned to the ice before the start of practice on Wednesday, but departed before the session began, TSN\u2019s Mark Masters reports.<\/p>\n It was the first time the 27-year-old netminder had been spotted skating since sustaining a lower-body injury last week.<\/p>\n Woll, 27, was placed on injured reserve over the weekend after leaving Toronto\u2019s 5-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> on Dec. 4.<\/p>\n Woll appeared to hurt himself while making a save in the second period, and did not return for the start of the final frame.<\/p>\n The game against Carolina was Woll\u2019s eighth start in nine contests with Anthony Stolarz<\/a> still out with an upper-body injury.<\/p>\n In eight games played since rejoining the team following a personal leave in training camp, the St. Louis native holds a 4-3-1 record with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage.<\/p>\n While Woll\u2019s return to practice comes as a positive to the banged-up Leafs, the team placed defenceman Dakota Mermis<\/a> on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 8.<\/p>\n Henry Thrun<\/a> was recalled from the AHL\u2019s Toronto Marlies in a corresponding move.<\/p>\n The Maple Leafs have placed D Dakota Mermis (lower body) on injured reserve retroactive to December 8. <\/p>\n D Henry Thrun has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies (AHL).<\/p>\n \u2014 Leafs PR (@LeafsPR) December 10, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n Mermis was on the receiving end of a knee-on-knee hit from Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> forward gage Goncalves in the team\u2019s 2-0 win on Monday.
