{"id":340464,"date":"2025-12-10T23:34:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T23:34:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/340464\/"},"modified":"2025-12-10T23:34:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T23:34:11","slug":"craig-breslow-explains-why-red-sox-didnt-sign-pete-alonso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/340464\/","title":{"rendered":"Craig Breslow Explains Why Red Sox Didn&#8217;t Sign Pete Alonso"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One day after it was reported that Kyle Schwarber <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/2025\/12\/alex-cora-reacts-to-kyle-schwarber-free-agency-news\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">would be re-signing<\/a> with the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox fans learned that another coveted power bat would be joining a different AL East team.<\/p>\n<p>Hours after news broke that Pete Alonso was finalizing a <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/2025\/12\/mlb-rumors-pete-alonso-finalizing-deal-with-red-sox-rival\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">five-year, $155 million contract<\/a> with the Baltimore Orioles, Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow addressed the team\u2019s reported pursuit of the \u201cPolar Bear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCraig Breslow said Alonso \u2018didn\u2019t line up right\u2019 and they have to make the best decisions they can,\u201d Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe posted on Bluesky. \u201cAlso said he doesn\u2019t believe it\u2019s true they have an aversion to the top end of the FA market.
