A Collingwood<\/a> employee has resigned following an alcohol-fuelled incident during a club community camp in the Northern Territory several weeks ago.<\/p>\n

According to reports from SEN, a male football department staffer acted inappropriately while intoxicated on the final night of the week-long camp in Alice Springs.<\/p>\n

Attendance at the camp included all first-year players from both the men’s and women’s programs, as well as multiple staff members and select board members.<\/p>\n

Collingwood’s pre-season has taken an ugly turn\u00a0Getty<\/p>\n

In a statement released on Thursday, the club confirmed an incident during recent interstate travel and the staff member’s subsequent resignation.<\/p>\n

“Collingwood can confirm that an incident occurred during recent interstate travel that required an investigation by the club,” it read.<\/p>\n

“As soon as the club became aware of the incident, it moved quickly to address the matter and during this process, the employee involved tendered their resignation, which the club accepted.<\/p>\n

“Our focus remains on supporting all team members and ensuring our environments remain professional and consistent with the values we stand for.”<\/p>\n

The trip was a showcase for the club’s cultural immersion program.<\/p>\n

“Part of our induction for new players, the cultural immersion program focuses on fostering meaningful connection, deepening understanding and working side by side with the local community,” a post on the club’s AFLW and AFL Instagram accounts said.<\/p>\n
