\n\tJosh Hutcherson<\/a> is looking back on experiencing great success while starring in The Hunger Games<\/a> films and how that ultimately impacted him. <\/p>\n

\n\tWhile speaking on Sony Music Entertainment\u2019s\u00a0Dinner\u2019s On Me <\/a>Podcast<\/a>, hosted by\u00a0Jesse Tyler Ferguson<\/a>, the Five Nights at Freddy\u2019s 2 star said that because of starring in the films at a young age and their success, he didn\u2019t learn what \u201crejection\u201d felt like.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn its debut, the first Hunger Games film\u00a0opened to $155 million<\/a>\u00a0at the domestic box office in 2012, with franchise stars Lawrence,\u00a0Hutcherson\u00a0and\u00a0Liam Hemsworth<\/a>\u00a0quickly ascending to superstardom. Lionsgate\u2019s\u00a0The Hunger Games\u00a0was the first of an eventual four-film franchise based on Collins\u2019 best-selling trilogy \u2014\u00a0The Hunger Games\u00a0(2008),\u00a0Catching Fire\u00a0(2009) and\u00a0Mockingjay\u00a0(2010) \u2014 which Hutcherson starred in.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI just only knew success,\u201d the actor said on the podcast. \u201c\u00a0From the age 9 to like 24 and then kind of post-Hunger Games world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cBecause also Hunger Games set things up. The industry\u2019s so goddamn tricky. They set you up in this way where they\u2019re like, \u2018You\u2019ve arrived.\u2019 You now are working with Jennifer Lawrence and Philip Seymour Hoffman.\u00a0And you\u2019re in this movie, it makes billions of dollars. You\u2019re the second lead of the film. Like what do you want? The kingdom is yours and it\u2019s not at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite starring in adaptations of the bestsellers, Hutcherson explained that the fame may have rose quickly, but it disappeared just as fast.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAs quickly as they\u2019re excited to get you into that spotlight, they want to not give you anything else. In a way it\u2019s very complicated. So I tasted my kind of first feeling of disappointment, failure, rejection\u2026 Probably when I was like 24 or so.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe said after finishing the films, his work slate was not necessarily busy.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt was just like a string of no one calling, not getting any offers, auditioning but not getting cast,\u201d Hutcherson said. \u201cIt\u2019s this whole thing of, \u2018Oh wow, I have my career that I\u2019ve had since I was 9 years old. It\u2019s always worked. I always got cast.\u2019 Of course, there are things that you don\u2019t get cast in, but I had only known that the chances are, if I was auditioning, was going to book it. That is just not the reality at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHutcherson may now currently star in the I Love LA<\/a> HBO series but he at one point thought he might not be cut out for the \u201ctop-tier\u201d TV club.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI would say, honestly, up until I did I Love LA, my perspective on the industry was shifting and in such a way where I was like, look, I love acting. I want to try to keep doing this as long as I can,\u201d he explained. \u201cBut the ambition of making high quality, like top-tier stuff, maybe that\u2019s not for me? And maybe I\u2019m okay with that and maybe I know that I can work and make a good living and have a great life and enjoy what I do. But maybe an HBO show that is fantastic, great writing \u2026 maybe that\u2019s just not what I am? Maybe they don\u2019t want me in that club. And so I was kind of like, in a weird way, coming to terms with that. It was like a sad but true feeling, acceptance. And then of course, this fucking show happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe said starring on the show has \u201creignited all of that drive.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere\u2019s a reason why. A, I want to be there because it\u2019s the most fulfilling version of doing the thing that I love the most, and B, like, I can hang with these people. You know what I mean?
