Production on the sequel, \u201c28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,\u201d got underway essentially straight after the first film wrapped, with Nia DaCosta directing.<\/p>\n<p>However, production on a third film was held off, waiting to see how the first film performed.  The first movie received good reviews and ended up grossing $151 million at the box office from a $60 million budget \u2013 the highest of the franchise to date.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, it wasn\u2019t clear if Sony would proceed.
