Amanda Seyfried <\/a>isn\u2019t backing down on her Charlie Kirk comments<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Housemaid\u201d actor opened up about previous remarks she\u2019d made about the right-wing commentator\u2019s views after his death, calling him \u201chateful.\u201d <\/p>\n

Kirk was shot and killed<\/a> during a speaking event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not fucking apologizing for that. I mean, for fuck\u2019s sake, I commented on one thing,\u201d the actor said in an article published in Who What Wear<\/a> on Wednesday. \u201cI said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I said was pretty damn factual, and I\u2019m free to have an opinion, of course,\u201d the actor added. \u201cThank God for Instagram. I was able to give some clarity, and it was about getting my voice back because I felt like it had been stolen and recontextualized \u2014 which is what people do, of course.\u201d<\/p>\n

After calling Kirk \u201chateful\u201d just after his death, Seyfried quickly addressed the backlash her comment created in a more nuanced Instagram post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are forgetting the nuance of humanity,\u201d the actor wrote in September. \u201cI can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk\u2019s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable. No one should have to experience this level of violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?\u201d she added. <\/p>\n

Other celebrities, including Kristin Chenoweth and Rainn Wilson<\/a>, also received blowback for comments they made about Kirk\u2019s death. <\/p>\n

Chenoweth \u2015 who called Kirk\u2019s death \u201ca heartbreak\u201d \u2015 said that the backlash to her remarks \u201cnearly broke\u201d her. <\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was tough on me, but I\u2019m not going to answer any questions about it because I dealt with it,\u201d the Broadway legend said in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> in November. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt nearly broke me, and that\u2019s all I\u2019m going to say,\u201d she explained. \u201cYou probably know my heart, so you probably know.\u201d <\/p>\n
