Lili Reinhart has revealed she has been diagnosed with endometriosis after it took three hospital visits and multiple doctors for experts to seriously consider her pain and symptoms.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old Riverdale actress took to Instagram on Friday, telling her 24 million followers that not one urologist and gynecologist had taken her symptoms seriously.<\/p>\n

Reinhart said it took two different pelvic floor therapists, an MRI and an endometriosis specialist to finally get a diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast week, I was officially diagnosed with endometriosis following laparoscopic surgery,\u201d she wrote in a post alongside several photos of her in a hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year, I saw a urogynecologist and was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. I was told there was no cure\u2014and no lasting relief\u2014for my symptoms.<\/p>\n

\u201cThree hospital visits. Multiple urologists and gynecologists. And not one of them seriously considered endometriosis as the underlying cause of what I was experiencing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t until I worked with two different pelvic floor therapists that the word endometriosis was even mentioned to me as a possible source of my pain.<\/p>\n

\u201cI pushed for an MRI on my own, which led to a diagnosis of adenomyosis. From there, I met with an endometriosis specialist who helped me decide that laparoscopic surgery was the next step I wanted to take\u2014while, at the same time, another gynecologist told me I \u2018probably didn\u2019t have endo\u2019 and should just go on the pill.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m glad I trusted my body and listened to my gut and will continue advocating for others to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friends, fans and other endometriosis warriors took to the comments section with heartfelt and supportive messages.<\/p>\n

Another said: \u201cAt 33 I was finally relieved of this never ending chronic distress I\u2019ve been living with and every Dr brushed off for my entire life. I\u2019m so glad you\u2019re able to do something to ease you. And advocating publicly about it. Have a quick recovery!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSadly it\u2019s so relatable and we never get the answers we need. we have to continue being our biggest advocates,\u201d a third added.<\/p>\n

The Endometriosis Foundation of America said: \u201cThank you for being so open about your endometriosis journey, Lili. Speaking out takes courage \u2014 and it changes lives. Your story will bring awareness, validation, and hope to so many.\u201d<\/p>\n
