{"id":344432,"date":"2025-12-13T02:19:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T02:19:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/344432\/"},"modified":"2025-12-13T02:19:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-13T02:19:08","slug":"ezekiel-lindenmuth-snapped-up-by-seattle-for-2026-mlr-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/344432\/","title":{"rendered":"Ezekiel Lindenmuth snapped up by Seattle for 2026 MLR season"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/samoa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Samoa<\/a> rep and 2025 MLR finalist with Houston, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/ezekiel-lindenmuth\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ezekiel Lindenmuth<\/a>, has made the move north to join the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/seattle-seawolves\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seattle Seawolves<\/a> for the 2026 MLR season.<\/p>\n<p>A familiar name to rugby fans across the Pacific, the former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/new-zealand\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Zealand<\/a> U20 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/moana-pasifika\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Moana Pasifika<\/a> prop made his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/usa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">USA<\/a> Eagles debut earlier this year during England\u2019s tour of the Americas.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old went on to play Canada, Japan, and then his country of birth, Samoa, in the Pacific Nations Cup. A couple of games for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/counties-manukau\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Counties Manukau<\/a> in the NPC preceded another USA squad selection for the Autumn Nations Series, where he was a nailed-on starter against Scotland, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/georgia\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Georgia<\/a> and Romania.<\/p>\n<p>After two seasons with Houston, including an MLR final appearance earlier in 2025, Lindenmuth was forced to find a new home when the Texas outfit announced a shock withdrawal from the 2026 MLR season.<\/p>\n<p>Of the six teams remaining in the MLR for 2026, it\u2019s now confirmed that Seattle has won the powerhouse prop\u2019s services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStoked to be a part of the Seawolves this year, can\u2019t wait to meet all of our fans and play some great rugby,\u201d Lindenmuth said.<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 MLR season kicks off in April with Anthem Rugby Carolina, California Legion, Chicago Hounds, New <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/england\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">England<\/a> Free Jacks, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/old-glory-dc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Old Glory DC<\/a> joining Seattle in what is expected to be a 10-round competition, with the top four sides reaching the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>The Houston SaberCats are one of four teams that competed in 2025 but will be absent in 2026, joined by Miami <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/sharks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sharks<\/a> and NOLA Gold, while Los Angeles and San Diego have merged to create California Legion.<\/p>\n<p>A post on social media from Houston in September read, \u201cThank you for supporting the Sabercats over the past eight seasons. We have shared some incredible experiences together, from our patchy start in the early years at a minor-league baseball stadium to the successful squad of the last four years, playing at the best rugby facility in the country. We can be proud of this journey and celebrate. Many of the experiences we shared together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is with much sadness that we announce we will not be participating in MLR\u2019s 2026 season.
