<\/p>\nNathan Cleary, who has been enjoying some extended time with UK-based girlfriend Mary Fowler during the NRL offseason, has earned widespread praise for a selfless act in Manchester.<\/p>\n
Cleary was a member of the Kangaroos side that earned a 3-0 clean sweep of England in a Rugby League Ashes series in England in October and November.<\/p>\n
Matildas superstar Fowler, however, has been busy off the field while she rehabilitates the ruptured ACL she suffered playing for Manchester City back in April.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old Fowler has posted a number of snaps and videos on Instagram of her time with the Penrith Panthers halfback.<\/p>\n
But it was a post on Facebook from a Manchester charity organisation that has made some headlines on both sides of the globe.<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old Cleary spent a day helping out the Atherton & Leigh Foodbank, which offers food and support to families in need.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had an extra volunteer today,\u201d the post read. <\/p>\n
\u201cNathan Cleary, star of Penrith Panthers and the Australian Kangaroos, called to see us and insisted on doing a shift, packing bags and getting involved with all aspects of our work.<\/p>\n
\u201cThanks for your help today Nathan, you made a real difference and helped people facing hardship to stay well fed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Atherton & Leigh Foodbank Facebook account was soon flooded with comments from fans amazed by Nathan Cleary and his selfless act.<\/p>\n
\u201cShows just how special this young man is and how he\u2019s been raised, to stay humble, kind and thoughtful,\u201d Kim Prodanov wrote on the post.<\/p>\n
Donna Durrington wrote: \u201cWell done Nathan champion on and off the field proud to be a Panther fan!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cProud parents who raised this young man for who he is today, champion on & off the field!\u201d Vinesh Goundar wrote.<\/p>\n
Chris Van Elsen wrote on the post: \u201cPure class, not ashamed to say I\u2019m a big fan of his..I\u2019m a Broncos supporter.\u201d<\/p>\n

English rugby league fans also praised Nathan Cleary for how he has interacted with UK-based fans in recent years.<\/p>\n

Another fan wrote: \u201cExcellent stuff from him. I was also impressed with the way he interacted with the Wigan fans after the WCC a few years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
Given his post-season commitments with the Kangaroos this year Cleary will be one of the last Panthers back to pre-season training alongside other Ashes participants Isaah Yeo and Dylan Edwards.<\/p>\n
