The other one was at the British Open one year to make a playoff with Ernie (Els).<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, the two putts I wish I could have back, really. Thinking back to it at the time, it hurt then but it kind of almost hurts more now because I haven\u2019t won since then either. It\u2019s not easy to win out here. Tilton\/Getty Images)Source: Getty Images<\/p>\n Two years ago, a tie for seventh was not enough to reach the playoffs, ending a 16-year run.<\/p>\n But if Scott can pull of a herculean effort this week, he will be buoyed his memories of last year\u2019s return to the playoffs.<\/p>\n A tied 18th finish at the FedEx St Jude Championship protected his standing in the top 50, and then the now 45-year-old went on an incredible two-week run to finish tied second at the penultimate BMW Championship before coming tied fourth at the Tour Championship.<\/p>\n Despite a disappointing final round 79 to fall to tied 12th, Scott also gains confidence from making the final group at this year\u2019s US Open.<\/p>\n \u201cI need to be on the front foot a little bit, I can\u2019t be sitting back waiting for it to happen,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve got a couple of days to put myself in contention for the weekend. I feel confident with my game that I can do that.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s about executing. And anyone\u2019s going to have to play well out here.
