Cycling On Me May Be the Perfect Gift for Cyclists

Support us! Bikerumor may earn a small commission from affiliate links in this article. Learn More

Christmas is fast approaching. Need a last-minute gift for your favorite cyclist? Gift cards are always a safe bet, but how do you zero in on a specific brand they may be into? The good news is that you don’t have to with On Me. On Me has launched a cycling-specific gift card that allows recipients to choose from 24* bicycle-related brands, including Specialized, Trek, Canyon, Garmin, Rapha, and Maap. The digital platform addresses the challenge of selecting appropriate cycling gifts by providing flexibility across multiple retailers rather than limiting purchases to a single store.

The gift card system operates entirely through digital delivery, eliminating physical cards and shipping costs. Recipients can add the cards directly to their digital wallets and use tap-to-pay functionality at participating retailers. The recipient can also thank the gifter directly through the app, and even gets reminders to send a thank you with pictures of their purchase after the fact.

Gift givers can also choose the day the gift card is delivered, with the option for personalization and tracking. The cards claim to have no hidden fees, never expire, and since they’re stored on the user’s phone, it’s unlikely to be lost like a traditional gift card.

On Me lists their Cycling gift card as being valid towards 25 different bike brands, but currently, they have Santa Cruz skateboards included, and not Santa Cruz bikes. We’ve asked to see if the gift card is meant to include Santa Cruz Bikes, but haven’t heard back yet.

But even without Santa Cruz, there are still a lot of brands included – and even some big retailers like REI, Competitive Cyclist, and Performance Bike, which give the purchaser access to even more brands.

Included Brands

We tested out a gift card sample, and it was extremely simple to add it to an Apple Pay wallet, and then tap to pay at REI. The inclusion of REI is really nice in case your favorite cyclist already has everything cycling-related they want, and then has the option to buy other outdoorsy things as well.

On Me offers themed gift card categories beyond cycling to cover various hobbies and interests. Gift givers select a category and dollar amount, while recipients decide how to allocate their spending across the available brand options within that category, meaning you don’t have to spend it all in one place at one specific brand.

From what we’ve seen, On Me might be the end of the traditional one-brand gift card.

onme.com

Support us!
